If you are new to Plumbing and Gas then you will have to first complete your City and Guilds 6128 technical certificate and this can be achieved either as part of the intensive plumbing course detailed below or over a period of time under our flexible learning scheme .

Plumbing Course

6-week ReactFast Plumbing Course which includes the City & Guilds Level 2 Domestic Heating & Ventilation Technical Certificate or choose to follow the
10-week ReactFast Plumbing & Gas Course which includes the City & Guilds Domestic Heating & Ventilation Technical Certificate, and the Level 3 Registered Gas Installers Course .

Both routes are your platform to achieve a recognised NVQ Level 2 qualification in plumbing or ultimately gaining registered gas engineer status.

Plumbing Course & Heating Programme

The ReactFast professional plumbing course covers all aspects of domestic plumbing, heating design, fault finding, maintenance and domestic drainage.

The plumbing course is split into two parts: theory training on the understanding of plumbing systems and practical training to provide you with all your necessary plumbing skills.

The full-time plumbing course consists of six weeks intensive plumbing training . Alternatively you have the option to complete the course over a period of time under our flexible learning scheme . All plumbing course classes will start at 8.30am and finish at 5.00pm.

Course - Theory

The theory side will cover the following plumbing modules:

• Health and Safety
• Common Processes in Plumbing & Heating systems
• Cold Water
• Hot Water
• Sanitation Systems
• Below Ground Drainage Systems
• Central Heating Systems & Controls
• Design of Central Heating Systems
• Basic Electrics
• Fault Finding and Maintenance
• Water Regulations

Course - Practical

Practical work will cover the following tasks:

• Pipe bending and jointing skills for copper tube to City and Guild requirements
• Installing and testing sanitary ware and waste pipework to City and Guilds requirements
• Installing and commissioning bathroom suites
• Fabricate and install steel pipework
• Use of Plastic push fit plumbing systems
• Install and commission hot water cylinders and cold water cisterns
• Install Central Heating Systems
• Install Electrical Central Heating Controls
• Install/replace Immersion heaters
• Install/replace electric showers
• Install mixer type showers
• Install and commission radiators

Fault find and carry out maintenance on domestic plumbing installations to include:

• Replace a toilet syphon
• Replace float operated valves
• Install isolating and servicing valves
• Install thermostatic radiator valves
• Replace kitchen, washbasin and bath taps

It doesn’t stop there!

If you wish to continue with your personal development you have the option to achieve an NVQ Level 2 upon completion of the ReactFast Professional Plumbers Course and the 6128 Domestic Heating Technical Certificate.

In order to achieve your Plumbing NVQ (City & Guilds 6088) you must build an acceptable portfolio of evidence and undertake on-site assessments that can be arranged via the plumbing training centre .

Plumbing courses are held in Central Birmingham and Atherton, Greater Manchester. Students must pay for their own accommodation if necessary, but will benefit from discounted B&B rates.

It would be unfortunate if you were not able to experience the best possible plumbing training experience and facilities due to the added expense of additional accommodation costs.

For that reason we are pleased to offer plumbing trainees living further than 50 miles from Birmingham or Manchester, the opportunity of claiming back half of your accommodation costs up to the value of £350 upon completion of your plumbing course.
